Dialogue editing is a balance of precision and authenticity. We use spectral tools to surgically remove noise, clicks, hums, and distractions while carefully shaping edits at the waveform level. Breaths and pauses are managed with restraint – tightened where needed but never over-cut – so performances stay human and believable. Every line is checked with accuracy to maintain natural flow and ensure consistent sync. The result is dialogue that’s clean, steady, and transparent, while preserving the character and humanity of the performance.

EDITING
MIXING & MASTERING
Great mixing makes everything click. Our mixing team balances dialogue, music, and sound effects across stereo, 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos configurations, ensuring your game sounds great on everything from basic earbuds to high-end systems. We work to meet platform loudness standards and dynamic range requirements for console, PC, and mobile, delivering consistent experiences across different playback methods and maintaining levels across all language versions while respecting the unique characteristics of each region's voice acting.
VOICE DESIGN
Adding audio effects (FX) to in-game voices is a powerful way to deepen immersion and enrich storytelling. By applying techniques such as reverb, distortion, pitch-shift, and delay, voice performances can be seamlessly integrated into their environments – whether that means echoing across vast caverns, transmitting through a futuristic comms system, or transforming into the voice of a non-human character.
These effects not only heighten realism but also reinforce creative direction, ensuring that every voice feels authentic to the world it inhabits. The result is a more dynamic and engaging audio experience that strengthens players’ emotional connection to characters and enhances the overall impact of the game world.
AUDIO QA
Ensuring that all audio is technically clean and consistent is an important process of post-production. We check, review and ensure that all audio meets the technical, creative, and continuity standards required for your pipeline. A few examples are checking for noise or unwanted sonic artifacts like mouth clicks, pops and clipping, or ensuring that edited dialogue is lip-synced correctly to picture. The list doesn’t stop there as we also check the narrative integrity of the audio such as making sure no lines are accidentally duplicated or dropped during editing, removing or retaining breaths based on stylistic and naturalistic performance needs.
Once the audio is verified and meets the right standards, we do one last check on the specification and ensure we meet the deliverable criteria outlined. This could mean providing you with your preferred filenames and delivery folder hierarchy to enable you to quickly drop assets into your development pipeline. In short, we make sure you’re ready for the next stage.
We also provide detailed bug reporting, technical logs, and clear documentation that help development teams resolve issues efficiently.

What does audio post-production encompass in games?
Audio post-production refers to the process of editing, enhancing, and preparing game audio for final implementation. This includes tasks like cleaning up recordings, balancing levels, adding effects, mixing different sound layers, and mastering audio to meet platform requirements. The goal is to ensure all voice, music, and sound effects are polished, consistent, and technically ready for integration across devices and environments.
What is audio implementation or integration?
Audio implementation involves integrating all your game's audio assets into the game engine and ensuring they trigger correctly during gameplay. At Side, we handle the complete technical pipeline from raw recordings to game-ready assets, including precision editing, mastering, and compression optimization. Our team works with audio middleware like Wwise, FMOD, MetaSound, Unity, and Unreal to set up audio systems, delivering organized files with clear documentation for straightforward implementation and efficient post-launch updates.
Why is mixing and mastering important in video games?
Mixing and mastering ensures all audio elements work together harmoniously across different playback systems. Mixing balances dialogue, music, and sound effects so nothing gets lost or overpowers other elements. Mastering optimizes the final audio for various platforms and devices, from headphones to TV speakers. Proper mixing and mastering maintain audio clarity, meets platform loudness standards, and ensures consistent quality whether players are on console, PC, or mobile.
What's the difference between Wwise and FMOD middleware?
Both Wwise and FMOD are professional audio middleware systems that handle dynamic audio implementation in games. Wwise excels in complex interactive systems and large-scale productions, while FMOD offers streamlined workflows and flexible real-time parameter control. At Side, our technical team has extensive experience with both platforms, allowing us to recommend the best solution for your project's scope, budget, and technical requirements while ensuring optimal performance across all target platforms.
How do I choose a game audio post-production studio?
Look for a studio that handles the complete technical pipeline from raw recordings to game-ready assets. Side provides precision editing, mastering, and compression optimization tailored to your workflow. Our key capabilities include experience with audio middleware like Wwise and FMOD, plus organized file delivery with clear documentation for straightforward implementation. We can handle everything from start to finish, providing Audio QA processes that test across multiple platforms and efficient post-launch updates.
